It seems to be all about haters today--Tigger is on the radio talking about them, and earlier I had a few thoughts about the same topic. Then the email came, and I'll get back to that. Let's just say for a second that I can accept it when "little people" do their best to belittle me and my efforts, because my rewards come in various forms, and I have no shortage of blessings. But then let's forget for a brief moment that humility is a prerequisite, and speak on how sometimes situations can make us feel so undervalued, misused, and downright indignant that we seek not only praise for what was accomplished, but tangible, valuable, and downright loud 'n clear acknowledgments that other people get to witness. "GIVE ME MY DUE!"
I'm saying I'm a winner--a formidable opponent, tenacious bulldog, or whatever else you can think of that says if she takes it on, she plans to do it better than it's ever been done, and you will remember her name. I'm saying in my home life, work life, at school, with my kids at school, whenever and wherever I go, I'm either all up in something, to win it, or I couldn't care less about it because I'm all up in so much other stuff. Man, these bammas just keep walking around like they're noteworthy, in charge, on top, and those around (yes, me) are simply there as sidekicks to their greatness. Which Tonya--me? I used to tell this one bamma "I aint no designer handbag; you don't just pick me up and show me off when you feel like it, then put me down until you need to step it up again." Oh he was real confused. But that's exactly how some people will try to make you feel--supervisors included. They boast of the wonderful things they represent, which you are responsible for, or at least contributed a whole lot to, and never allude to the fact that you were instrumental in any way to anything; you are supporting cast, and you should be--what--happy to be there? Yeah I got words for that type of mentality, but I'm keeping it minimally outrageous today.
I'm saying that burns my you-know-what, about as much as idiots trying to be superior with the words--full of illiteracies, inaccuracies, grammar no-no's and stuff. And yet, though it may seem that the Good Lord takes His sweet time slapping some reality on some folks, it brings me back to earth because it's always on time, and I am no exception. The email simply said we won, and I appreciate your help. At that point, it didn't really matter if millions of people had seen what I did; the people who matter did. If you're in a position to change lives, just do it as if you're the only one who can, and as if God were the only one watching. It doesn't go unnoticed.
